Helene M. Koennicke

Helene Meredith (Gunther) Koennicke, 88, of Hampton, CT passed away peacefully with family by her side on September 25, 2014. She was born December 26, 1925 in Brockton, MA. She moved to Hampton, CT where she attended Hampton Grammar School and graduated Windham High School in 1943. She Married May 26, 1946 to W.William Koennicke, of Hampton, CT. A devoted wife of 68 years, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend, Helene immensely enjoyed spending time, sharing meals, and chatting on the phone with her family and loved ones. Always sharp of mind, she enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading, as well as watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Her interests were wide-spread and exciting, including boating up and down the east coast, auto-racing, traveling, and continuing her on-going "lucky-streak" at the casino. She is survived by her husband W.William Koennicke; son Bill Koennicke and his wife Becky Koennicke; grandchildren, Gus Koennicke and Beth Koennicke; sister, Lucille Feeney; brother, Robert Chapel, and many nieces and nephews. Helene was predeceased by her loving daughter Sandy Potter. A graveside service will be held at North Cemetery, Hammond Hill Rd, Hampton, CT on Saturday October 4, 2014 at 10:00am.
