Helen (Marrotte) Thompson, 83, of Columbia, wife of Earl H. Thompson, died Monday Jan. 30, 2006 at Haven Health Center, Willimantic. She was born Sept. 18, 1922 in Willimantic the daughter of Edward and Myrtle (Burgess) Marrotte. She had been employed by both Electro-Motive Manufacturing Co. in Willimantic and Mansfield State Training School. Helen was an avid collector of angels and was an accomplished craft person. She also enjoyed preparing meals and baking for her family. Helen had been a volunteer at Windham Hospital and had been active at the Beckish Senior Center in Columbia. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son Edward Thompson of East Hampton, a daughter A. Joanne Wilson and her husband Daniel of Winterhaven, FL., 2 sisters, Irene Hansen of Lebanon and Beatrice Swol of N. Windham, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Her family will receive friends at the Potter F.H. 456 Jackson St. (Rte.195) Willimantic on Thursday between 6:00and 8:00pm. Her funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 10:00am.
