Helen B. Slowick

Helen B. Slowick, 93, of Storrs, died Saturday June 12, 2004 in Storrs. She was born December 5, 1910 in New Brunswick, NJ, the daughter of John and Susan (Bero) Bilts and had lived in Ashford before moving to Storrs more than 40 years ago. Prior to her retirement she was employed in the housekeeping department at the University of Connecticut. She was a gentle soul who will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. She is survived by a son, John Slowick of Los Angeles, CA, a granddaughter, Melanie Slowick of Los Angeles, a sister, Emma Baker of Ashford and several nieces and nephews including JoAnn Clark of Storrs and Beverly Kuhn of Florida. She was predeceased by 3 sisters, Lillian Fliegel of Ashford, Anna Newberry of North Windham, Irene Coatsworth Buffalo, NY and 2 brothers, John Bilts of Hartford and Ted Bilts of Willimantic. A private graveside service will be held in the Mansfield Center Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mansfield Fire Dept.
