COVENTRY, Conn. ? Helen (Kelly) Ryan, 72, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004 at Riverside Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center in East Hartford following a long battle with diabetes and myasthenia gravis. Beloved wife of James J. Ryan of Coventry, Helen was born in Hartford, daughter of the late Thomas and Emily (Havens) Kelly. She graduated from Middletown High School in the class of 1951 and worked at Aetna Life Insurance Co. Mrs. Ryan was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Patrick Ryan and his wife Stephanie of Bennington, Vt.; two daughters, Eileen Kean and her husband Michael of Coventry and Nancy LaPoint of East Hartford; a much-loved grandson, Sean Kean of Coventry; a sister, Theresa Westmoreland of North Carolina; sisters-in-law Alice Kelly of Cromwell, Shelia Hart of Galway, Ireland and Maureen Ryan of Limerick, Ireland; brothers-in-law Jerome Ryan and Michael Ryan and his wife Ann of Co. Waterford, Ireland; and many nieces, nephews and cousins in the U.S. and in Ireland. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ryan was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas Kelly and Malachi Richard Kelly; and three sisters, Margaret Valencia, Cathleen Kelly and Marie Rossignol; and one son-in-law, John LaPoint. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic, CT.
