Helen M. (Nolan) Nichols died January 31, 2003 in Fayetteville, GA of heart failure at the age of 87 years. Helen was born April 13, 1915 in Willimantic. She worked many years at Mansfield State Training School as an aide for the mentally challenged whom she referred to as her "precious children". She received an award for "Aide of the Year" in the 1960's for her kindness and caring of these individuals. She was a woman of grace. She will be sadly missed by her sister, Ruth (Nolan) Dobush of Columbia, her children, Beverly (Nichols) Brown of Hampton, GA, Margaret Lincoln of Willimantic, Melvin Nichols of Tampa, FL, Susan (Nichols) Burzynski of Duluth, MN and Wayne (Rosemary) Nichols of Chaplin, her grandchildren, Donna, Ken, Marybeth, Leslie, Travis, Emily and Matthew, her great grandchildren, Luke, Matthew, Brandon, Jessica, Danielle, Rebecca, Lindsey, Christopher, Shana and Joshua, her great great grandchild Levi Brown, many foster grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Kathleen (Meikle) Nolan, her sister, Irene (Nolan) Mastrangelo, her brother, Arthur Nolan and her grandson D. Troy Nichols. A graveside service will be held Saturday February 8, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Cemetery, Club Rd. Windham. There are no calling hours.
