Helen (Flegert) Krause, 86, of Lebanon, died Saturday Jan. 28, 2006 at Windham Hospital. She was born Dec. 29, 1919 in Jamaica, N.Y. the daughter of Julius and Lydia (Schachinger) Flegert. She had been employed by CL&P in Willimantic for 23 years and then worked as a reading specialist at the Lebanon Elementary School for 10 years. A very active member of the Lebanon community, she served as Vice Chairman of the Republican Town Committee for 23 years. Helen was a member of the Jonathan Trumbull Library Board for 23 years, serving as chairman for 6 years. For 25 years, she worked the information booth at the Lebanon Lion s Fair and served as the coordinator of the exhibition building for 15 years. Helen also served as auditor for the Connecticut Fair Assoc. She had been a Girl Scout leader in Lebanon, was a former member of the Windham Whirlers, participated in the CL&P bowling league at Lucky Strike Lanes and more recently as an avid card player, was a member of the Lebanon Junior/Senior Setback Group. She was a lifelong member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lebanon where she and her husband Alfred Arnold Krause were married in 1944. In addition to her husband she is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Julius, Arthur and Harry Flegert and Walter Ausburger. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Tuesday between 6:00 and 8:00pm. Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00pm at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Village Hill Rd., Lebanon. Interment will follow in New Lebanon Cemetery.
