Helen Iscoll

Helen (Doyle) Driscoll, 80, of Willimantic, wife of John P. Driscoll, died Saturday Nov. 8, 2008 at Douglas Manor, Windham. She was born Oct. 31, 1928 in Norwich, the daughter of George and Irene (Havey) Doyle. She and John were married at St. Mary Church in Jewett City on Aug. 2, 1952. In 1950, she receive a B.A. in Education from St. Joseph College in West Hartford. Helen's teaching career included one year in the Plainfield School System and then 27 years in Windham Public Schools, mostly at Natchaug Elementary School. She retired in 1985 and was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association. Helen enjoyed the beach and taking many trips with her family to Cape Cod. In addition to her husband John, she is survived by a daughter Peggy Flaherty and her husband Dennis of Stratford, two sons, Michael Driscoll of Westport and Dr. Brian Driscoll and his wife Dr. Marcia Driscoll of Ellicott City, MD; six grandchildren, Kelley, Jennifer and Caitlin Flaherty and Stephen, Connor and Ally Driscoll and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Ann Jodoin. Her family will receive friends at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Wednesday between 6:00 and 8:00pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic with assembly at the church. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham.
