Hector Pacheco Fernandez, 84, of Willimantic, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side at Windham Hospital on Wednesday, November 5, 2014. Hector was born on March 30, 1930 in Cailloma, Peru. He married Olga Paredes from Arequipa, Peru and together with their four children, they ventured to the United States in search of a better life. They settled in Willimantic and their dreams were made possible by the American Thread employment sponsorship. Hector was a devoted father, raising his four daughters to become scholarly members of the community. When his daughters married and had families of their own, Hector was a loving grandfather, caring for them, teaching his grandchildren to follow in his footsteps on the soccer field. He and Olga were members of the Peruvian Club and became involved in the club's gatherings and dances. He also served as the Master of Ceremonies on occasion. Hector was pre-deceased by his mother, Sebastiana; father, Moises; brothers, Clodualdo, Santiago, Augusto; sisters, Rosa and Sara; daughter, Daitzi Lussier; and grandson, William Lussier. Hector is survived by his wife, Olga, and children, Hector and wife Naima of Orlando, FL; Danitza and husband Mark Nall of Franklin, CT; Miriam and husband Art Raymond of Woodstock, CT; and Sara Zambo of Mansfield, CT. He is remembered by grandchildren: Jason Nall and wife Marissa, James Nall, Anthony Raymond, Joseph and Stacey Zambo, Tori Lussier, Sabrina and Adam Fernandez. He also leaves a son-in law, William Lussier, Jr. and his family of Franklin, CT; and the rest of his family and friends both in the U.S. and Peru. There are no calling hours or services. Friends and family will celebrate the life of Hector at a later date and time to be determined. Privately the family will scatter his ashes over the ocean waters that connect the North and South continents as a symbol of his journey, accomplishments and his family legacy. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Society at
