Hector John Burelle, 72, of Pudding Hill Rd. Hampton, died Monday April 8, 2002 at the Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. He was born Feb. 28, 1930 in Hampton the son of Hector Joseph Burelle and Kathryn (George) Burelle and was a lifelong resident. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. John co-owned and operated the Burelle Brothers Sawmill in Hampton for many years. He served the town as selectman from 1959 to 1969 and was also firemarshall. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Hampton and was an avid racing fan (especially Jeff Gordon). He was formerly married to the late Joan (Chartier) Burelle. He is survived by 8 children; John Burelle of Canterbury, Anthony Burelle of Chaplin, Laurie Burelle of Oregon, Beverly Burelle of Windham, Michael Burelle of Hampton, Rebecca Gagne of Scotland, Paul Burelle of Hampton and Thomas Burelle of Hampton, 4 sisters; Florence Mashka of Scotland, Kathryn Carpenter of Windham, Gloria Burell of Hampton and Kathleen Burell of Hampton, a brother Francis Burell of Scotland, 11 grandchildren, a great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00pm. His Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 10:00am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Cedar Swamp Rd., Hampton, with assembly at the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham.
