Hazel M. (Conklin) Filupeit

Hazel Marie (Conklin) Filupeit, 91, of Hampton, CT passed away on May 31, 2016 at home, as was her wish. In attendance was her son Charles B. Filupeit. Hazel was born on June 25, 1924 in Shavertown, NY, to Benjamin and Margaret (Davis) Conklin. Hazel married her soulmate, Oscar W. Filupeit on May 6, 1945 in New Kingston, NY and together they raised 5 children in both New York and Hampton, CT. Hazel was a ?Farmwife?, that is, she kept a home, raised a family, and assisted on the family dairy farm where necessary. She was also an avid gardener, growing both vegetables and flowers. Hazel was very active in the Hampton Congregational Church and a member of the Ladies Aid Society for many years. When reflecting some years ago she said that her greatest accomplishment was her 5 children. Hazel was predeceased by her husband, Oscar, and all of her siblings. She is survived by her children Caroline E. Hayes, Susan M. Filupeit, Luanne E. Filupeit, Walter F. Filupeit, and Charles B. Filupeit. She is also survived by her grandchildren Marie E. (Hayes) Baldwin, and Allene B. Hayes, great-grandchildren Eli O. Baldwin, Emma J. Baldwin, Colin T. Baldwin, James C. Schneider, and Thomas L. Schneider. Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours, on Sunday, June 5, 2016 from 2:00 ? 4:00 PM at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic, CT 06226. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, June 6, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the Hampton Congregational Church, 263 Main St., Hampton, CT 06247. Burial will follow at the Hampton North Cemetery, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the memory of Hazel, to the Ladies Aid Society, Hampton Congregational Church.
