Harold F. Upton

Harold F. Upton Sr., 82, husband of Alyce (Boerner) Upton, died Wednesday April 9, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 11, 1931, son of Almond and Mary (Busse) Upton. Harold was a U.S. Air Force Veteran who was a B-26 Flight Engineer during the Korean War. He worked for the State of Connecticut as a Dairy Inspector and an Assistant Director. Harold was also F.D.A. Certified milk sanitation rating officer. Harold was a Board of Assessment Appeals Chairman and a past member and President of Ashford Lions Club. He was a life resident of Ashford who loved his family and his country. He also enjoyed building stonewalls and planting trees around his house, gardening and fishing. In addition to his wife, Harold is survived by a daughter Laura Sullivan and her husband Charles and a son Harold Upton Jr. and his wife Susan Duke, and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers Almond, Miland and Robert Upton and a sister Bertha Neff. There are no calling hours. His funeral service will be held Saturday April 12, 2014 at 11:00am at Living Proof Church (formerly United Baptist Church) 38 Pompey Hollow Rd., Rte. 44, Ashford, with interment following in Woodward Cemetery, Ashford.
