After graduating from William H. Hall High School in West Hartford in 1953, he proudly served in the United States Army with the 3rd Armored Division in Germany from 1955 to 1957. He worked as a PBX technician at SNETCO where he played fast pitch softball in the Industrial League in Hartford. An amazing pitcher, he holds the record for most wins, 147. He retired from SNETCO after 30 years of dedicated service. His love for people and community was evident in his commitment to Pioneers, formerly Telephone Pioneers of America, the largest industry volunteer organization.
A resident of Hampton for 46 years, he continued his community service post-retirement with elected and volunteer positions, including, town constable, enforcement officer for the Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Agency, and traffic control with Hampton Fire Department.
He had many friends in Hampton and most everyone had a “Harold story”. Lover of peanut butter and ice cream, he was a caring man always looking to help those in need and often seen chatting with friends on his daily drive around town in his white Chevy truck.
An avid and skillful hunter all his life, and life member of NRA and FNAWS, his pursuit of big game took him throughout the continental U.S., Alaska, Canada, and Mexico. His proudest achievement was reaching the pinnacle of wild sheep hunting, the Grand Slam, in 2004, the 1,134th hunter in the world.
The family would like to extend the utmost gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Westview Health Care Center where Harold spent the last two years.
