Harold E. Hemingway, 81, of North Windham, husband of Cecile (Patnaude) Doubleday Hemingway, died Sunday September 14, 2003 at home. He was born March 16, 1922 in East Alburg, VT, the son of Edward and Ella (Hilliker) Hemingway and had lived in Connecticut since 1955. Prior to his retirement he was employed for over 30 years at the University of Connecticut. Harold was a long time member of the Willimantic Elks Lodge #1311. In addition to his wife he is survived by 7 children and their spouses, Roger and Marilyn Hemingway of Vernon, George Hemingway of Tampa, FL, Marcel Hemingway and Darlene White of North Windham, Victor and Mary Hemingway of Scotland, Barbara and Donald Moore of Hampton, Barton Doubleday of Torrington, Jeral and Mindy Doubleday of Wayne, NJ, 3 brothers and their wives, Gordon and Nancy Hemingway of Palm Bay, FL, Wallace and Nancy Hemingway of Broadax, VA, Arnold and Nancy Hemingway of Essex Junction, VT, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. There will be a gathering Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the procession to his Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Willimantic.
