Harold Doug Fraser

Harold "Doug" Fraser, 77, of Windham, husband of Mary (Seader) Fraser, died Monday October 27, 2003 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was born June 7, 1926 in Boston, the son of the late Harold and Beatrice (Whitney) Fraser and had lived in Windham most of his life. He was a U. S. Marine veteran of World War II serving with the Third Marine Division, Motor Transport Division in the Pacific Theatre. Doug a member of Local 478 of Operating Engineers and as an experienced crane operator he was called to assist at the tragic collapse of the L'Ambiance Plaza on April 23, 1987. After retirement he was then employed by Willimantic Waste Paper Co. He enjoyed antique vehicles and was a member of the Nutmeg Chapter of the American Truck Historical Society and the Four Seasons Model T Association. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 5 children and their spouses, John Fraser and Michele of Willimantic, Robyn McCullough and Thomas of Willington, Beth Bissonnette and Albert of Danielson, Julie Senerth and Frank of South Windsor and Drew Fraser and Sarah of Willimantic, a brother, Paul W. Fraser of Bath, ME, 9 grandchildren, Jennifer, Meredith, Rebecca, Douglas, Hannah, Olivia, Billy, Carol and Alison, 4 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Douglas Fraser. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Johnson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Windham Center Cemetery.
