Guy Ricklin Obituary
Guy Paul Ricklin, 81, much loved husband of Leslie Perfect Ricklin of Chaplin, CT passed away on January 11, 2024, at Windham Hospital with his wife at his side. He was born on March 1, 1942, in New York, New York to the late Paul Joseph Ricklin and Elizabeth Toy Ricklin.

Moving to Chaplin in 1972, Guy and Leslie spent the following years raising their family and improving their old Cape Cod home and property. Guy was self-employed as a pewtersmith working from his barn workshop and going to local craft fairs until he retired in the early 2000’s. He was a veteran having served honorably in the U.S. Navy.

He was a loving devoted father, always working on a building project to enhance his home. He was a voracious reader of P.G Wodehouse, in particular, which only added to his enjoyment of the ridiculous. He will be most remembered for his love of talking with anyone, his curiosity, willingness to ask questions to learn and his loyalty to friends and neighbors.

In addition to his wife of 54 years, Guy is survived by his beloved daughters, Anna Elizabeth Ricklin and her husband Chris Menocal of Falls Church, VA and Abigail Bailey Ricklin and her companion Miguel Galvez of Norwich, CT; and Grandchildren, Roxanne Lois Ricklin (5) and Vivian Leslie Ricklin (3) of Falls Church, VA. He will also be missed by dear friends and neighbors, including Scott St. Lawrence, his parents, Joyce and Art, Ann Chuk, Juan and Diane Sanchez, Richard and Diane Theriaque.  Guy’s caregivers Jessica and Dianna also deserve special gratitude for their dedication to his comfort in these last months.  In addition, the staff at Windham Hospital showed Guy and his family every kindness and consideration in making him comfortable in his final 2 days.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time at Guy’s home at 138 England Rd, Chaplin.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Chaplin Bicentennial Arboretum, Town of Chaplin, CT 06235.
