Grace (Bessette) Brolin, 90, of Woodstock, widow of Carl E. Brolin, died Monday March 21, 2005 in Woodstock at the home of her daughter. She was born Dec. 21, 1914 in Waltham, VT. the daughter of Herbert and Mary (Vincent) Bessette. She had been employed by the Electro-Motive Manufacturing Co. in Willimantic and later retired from Linemaster Switch Corp. in Woodstock. Mrs. Brolin was a communicant of St. Philip The Apostle Church in Ashford and had been active with the Ladies Guild. She was a former member of the Putnam Grange and was a member of the Woodstock Senior Citizens. For a time, she delivered Meals On Wheels in Woodstock. She is survived by 2 sons, Carl H. Brolin of Coventry and William W. Brolin of Sullivan, N.H.; 2 daughters, Joyce White of Woodstock and Donna Matulis of Marlborough; a brother William Bessette of Storrs, 2 sisters, Theresa Berntsen and Maybelle Berntsen both of Manchester, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a great great grandson. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Archibald and Herbert Bessette and a sister Georgianna Tenney. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Wednesday between 6:00 and 8:00pm. Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11:00am at St. Philip The Apostle Church, Rte 44, Ashford, with burial following in St. Philip Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Bungay Volunteer Fire Dept., Woodstock, CT. 06281 or to Hospice of N.E. CT., P.O. Box 632, Putnam, CT. 06260.
