Gordon R. James, 83, of Mansfield, husband of Winifred (Nichols) James, died on Wednesday July 7, 2004 at St. Joseph Living Center, Windham. He was born on April 10, 1921 in Willimantic he son of Harold and Ruth (Paton) James. Gordon was a World War II veteran serving in the Army Air Corps. He had been employed by Connecticut Light and Power Co. for 36 years, retiring in 1978. He was an active member of the Mansfield Senior Center. In addition to his wife of 62 years, he is survived by a son Richard James and his wife Karin Renate James of Vernon, a daughter Kathryn James-Stebbins and her husband James Stebbins of Mansfield, 2 grandsons, Gregory James and his wife Jenny and Daryl James and his wife Jennifer, a granddaughter Gail Horton, a great grandson Aaron James, a brother Kenneth James of Willimantic and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Carleton James. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00am with the Funeral Service beginning at 11:00am. Burial will follow in the Mansfield Center Cemetery. Contributions in his memory, to help find a cure for Myasthenia Gravis, may be made to CT. Nutmeg State Chapter-MGFA and sent to CT.
