Glenwood L. Hoyt Sr., 59, of Coventry, husband of Linda (Bonafine) Hoyt, died Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at the Windham Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 23, 1948 in Houlton, ME, the son of the late Glenwood Hoyt and Clara (Tingley) Hoyt Russell of Coventry and had lived in Coventry for the past 34 years. He was employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford. Glenwood loved camping and the outdoors. He liked to spend time in his yard and going to the casinos. The joy of his life however, was spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by his son, Glenwood Hoyt Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Coventry, his daughter, Shelley Dennis and her husband Tim Dennis Jr. of Willimantic; three brothers, Gale Hoyt and his wife Pam of Coventry, Dennis Hoyt and his wife Terry of Chaplin and Thomas Hoyt of Terryville; eight sisters, Jolene Powell and her husband Milan of Kenduskeag, ME, Sharon McCormick, Ellen Hanington and her husband Larry, Nyoka Irish and her husband Blaine, all of Wytopitlock, ME, Phyllis MacDonald and her husband Douglas of North Windham, Sharon Dumas and her husband Dave of Killingly, RoseAnn Crooks and her husband Sam of Elizabethtown, KY, Yvonne Solenski and her husband Walter of Coventry; three grandchildren, Nichole Cormier, Timothy Dennis III and Zackary Dennis, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a loving stepfather, Ross F. Russell and a nephew, Robert Hoyt, who was killed in Iraq. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic Thursday August 30th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Friday, August 31st at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in the New Coventry Cemetery.
