Gladys Beulah (Thompson) Greene, 101, of Mansfield Depot, Connecticut passed away on Friday, June 18, 2004 at her home. She was born in the same house on September 7, 1902. Daughter of the late E. Burnham and Lottie (Smith) Thompson she was a resident of Mansfield for most of her life. She attended the Eber Dunham Memorial Church of Mansfield Depot, and later the Ashford Baptist Church. She worked in the 1920s at Better Brushes of Palmer, MA and later at Gardiner Hall Junior Thread Co. of South Willington. She retired from employment at the University of Connecticut as an "institutional maintainer" in September 1967. She enjoyed flowers, birds, quilting, needlework, baking cookies, reading and hosting traditional holiday meals. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her brother G. Merritt Thompson and her husband Carlton Greene. She is survived by her only child, Joan Ferrero and her husband David, of Mansfield Depot, four grandchildren and their spouses: Davina & John King of Storrs, David & Tracey Ferrero of Manchester, Danelle & Erik Person of Willimantic, Dorinda & Rich Miller of Columbia, 6 Great Grandchildren: Caleb King, Kelly & Erin Ferrero, Micah, Jonah, & Joshua Person, 3 nephews: Burnham, George & Byron Thompson, and 1 niece: Terry Swaney, a faithful friend Barbara Waldron, and many other cousins and grand nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the Visiting Nurses Association, Home Health Aides, and April Holinko for their faithful services. There are no calling hours. Her funeral will be held on Monday, June 21, at 2:00pm at The Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic. Following the funeral, burial will be at the Storrs Cemetery, North Eagleville Rd. Storrs.
