Gladys Farrell

Gladys C. (Cole) Farrell, age 103, of Coventry, passed away in her sleep on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at home. She was the wife of the late George F. Farrell, Sr. Born May 25th, 1908 in Georgiaville, RI, the daughter of the late Newton and Dora (Baker) Cole, she had been a resident since early 1938. She moved to Coventry after living in Willimantic, were she worked in the thread mill. Known far and wide for her knowledge of goats, she was frequently asked for help. She was a long-time member of St Mary's Church in Coventry. She will also be remembered as "Motorcycle Mama," as Willimantic's The Chronicle dubbed her June 23rd, 2008. She is survived by three of her four children George F. Farrell, Jr of Edenton, NC, Mary F. Delamatta of Coventry, CT, and David J. Farrell of Enfield, CT and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her second son, Charles L. Farrell's living status is unknown. The eldest of five children, she was predeceased by her sister Lorita Wojnar, her sister Sally Lucas, her brother Matthew Cole, and her baby brother Everett Cole. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday July 13th, 2011 from 6-8 pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St (Rte. 195), Willimantic. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10AM Thursday July 14th, 2011 at St Mary's Church, 1600 Main St, Coventry, burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery Coventry. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) 5817 Old Leeds Rd. Irondale, AL, 35210. Strong of spirit, love her legacy.
