Gina Bruschi Herbert, New Hampshire's first Italian War Bride, died on Sept. 23, 2013. She was born on November 23, 1921 in Rome, Italy to Carlo and Alessandrina Bruschi, one of 6 girls. She was the widow of Robert W. Herbert, Sr. whom she married in Rome during WWII. They enjoyed 65 years together and raised 3 children who mourn her: Cynthia Herbert Adams (Roger) of Mansfield, CT; Pamela J. Mills of Sunapee, NH; and Robert W. Herbert, Jr. (Carol Derosia) of Bedford, NH. She also leaves three grandsons: Andrew Herbert Adams (Alana) of CT; Tucker Herbert of CA; and Travis Herbert of NH; and a sister Wanda Masseroni as well as 11 nephews. She was predeceased by niece Elena Tomassini and nephew Gordon Herbert, Jr. Gina, a consummate cook, gardener and seamstress, owned and operated Roma Ladies Wear on Elm Street in Manchester, NH. She and Bob maintained a large garden at their home on North Union St. She was a beautiful and hardworking woman who will be dearly missed. The family thanks The Arbors of Bedford, NH, Douglas Manor and Windham Hospital, Willimantic, CT for the care given. The interment will be at 11 AM October 16 at N.H. State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
