Gilberto "Spanky" Malave

Gilberto "Spanky" Malave, 60, of Groton, CT departed this life April 18, 2015. He was born April 7, 1955 in New York City, to parents Romana Santiago, and Gilberto Malve. Spanky worked many years for the Peter Pan Bus Co. and most recently drove for the Shaboo All-Stars in Willimantic. He was an avid fisherman, bowler and golfer. Throughout his life Spanky made many friends, there was not a person he disliked. Along with his parents he is predeceased by his sister, Laura Lopez and her children. Gilberto is survived by his sister, Susan Garcia, his niece Jessica Garcia and his great nieces Taina and Graciela of Windham, and many cousins and friends. He will be missed dearly by many. A great RICAN, rest easy dear brother. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (RTE 195) Willimantic. Chapel Services will be private.
