Geraldine Pechie

September 15, 1947 — August 8, 2009

Geraldine Ann (Scriven) Pechie, 61, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2009 after a brief illness. Born in Pawtucket, RI to the late A. Dennis Scriven and Virginia (Lambert) Scriven on September 15 1947, she resided in Mansfield and Willimantic for many years. Geri was employed at University of Connecticut for several years as an administrative specialist. Geri's greatest gift was the love she gave as a wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. She selflessly offered insight and empathy which will be missed by all. She was happiest when surrounded by her family and many friends. She enjoyed "girls only" bonding weekends, golf, antiquing, shopping and gardening. The annual garden tour has been renamed by her friends as "Geri's Excellent Garden Tour". Geri leaves behind her devoted husband of 43 years, Roland P. Pechie and her loving family, daughter Elizabeth "Betty" Frady and Scott Mercurio; son Roland "Bud" Pechie II and daughter-in-law Theria; her grandchildren, Garrett and Shea Frady and their father Dean Frady, Kristy Patterson and Ashely Pechie. She recently became a proud great-grandmother to Taylor Patterson. She also leaves her sisters and brothers-in-law Denise and Robert Heinrich and Pamela and Gale Hoyt; brothers Paul Scriven, David Scriven and L. William Scriven; and several beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, A. Dennis Scriven, Jr. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 24, 2009 at 5:00 PM at the First Congregational Church of Coventry, 1171 Main St., Coventry CT with Reverend Bruce Johnson officiating. There are no calling hours.
