Geraldine "Jerri" Chalk, a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, great-aunt, and friend, passed away on October 3, 2023, at her home in Columbia, CT, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 30, 1958, in Willimantic, CT. Jerri had a smile that could light up any room that she walked into and was a friend to everyone she met.
Jerri was a devoted wife to her husband, John "Dennis" Chalk, and a loving mother to her daughters, Melissa Chalk (fiancée Chris Sanchez) of Vernon, CT, and Emily Cross (husband Nelson Cross) of Tewksbury, MA. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She was also a dear sister-in-law to David Joly (partner Linda Casey) of Ellington, CT, Mel and Angie Chalk of Verplank, NY, and Donna Lombardo of Romeoville, IL. Her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, including Andrew Joly (Bonnie, Conor, Keegan, and Colin) of West Suffield, CT, Amanda Patnaude (Adam, Avery, and Austin) of West Suffield, CT, Ann-Marie Bajjaly (Briana and Ryan) of Oak Island, NC, Mike Chalk of Verplank, NY, and Pat Chalk of Charlotte, NC, all held a special place in her heart. Jerri also held her cousins and close friends near and dear.
Jerri was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Myrtle Lombardo, her sister Michele Joly, and her brother Robert Lombardo.
Jerri had a zest for life that was infectious. She loved traveling, always enjoying the annual family trip to Cape Cod. Her favorite pastimes included sipping cosmopolitans in Delray Beach, FL and playing her favorite slot machines.
Jerri's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, October 6th from 5-7 PM at Potter’s Funeral Home in Willimantic. Funeral mass will be held Saturday, October 7th at 9:30 AM at Saint Columba Church in Columbia. Burial to be held at the family’s convenience.
