Geraldine Jones Obituary
Geraldine Marie Krapf Jones died peacefully on June 26, 2022, six days before her 93rd birthday, at Douglas Manor Nursing Home in North Windham, CT.  Gerry enjoyed summers on Lake Winnipesaukee with her family; several trips in the late 1970s to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands with her husband, George; other travel to Europe; trips across the U.S.; many summer weeks at her daughter’s cottage on Martha’s Vineyard; and her daily Manhattan.  In her later years, Gerry was an avid UConn women’s basketball fan.

Gerry was a strong, determined, “ducks-in-a-row” woman who planned everything to a “T.”  She lived independently until five months ago when she decided she didn’t feel just right anymore and wanted to sell her condo and move to a nursing home.  Her parting words were “I love my family passionately, and I will miss you all dearly, but it is time for me to go.”

Gerry was born on July 2, 1929 to the late Anthony and Gertrude (Fein) Krapf. She lived in Ashford, CT most of her life, moving to Storrs, CT in 2000.  She graduated from Windham High School in 1946 and immediately started working at the University of Connecticut (retiring in 1991). She married George Jones on November 11, 1950 and was heartbroken upon his sudden death in 1979.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her five siblings -- Joseph Krapf, Magdaline Krapf Vostinak Balazs, Henry Krapf, Edward Krapf, and Robert Krapf; and her beloved daughter, Geralyn Jones Lyons.

She is survived by her son, Gary Jones, and wife, Sally, of The Villages, Florida; her daughter, Gayle Jones, and husband, Fred Servello, of Brunswick, Maine; and her son-in-law, Peter Lyons, of Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts.

She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren—Christopher Jones (Heather Hopkins), Benjamin Jones (Ashley), Jaclyn Lyons, Jameson Lyons, Matthew Anderson (Kaleigh), and Eric Anderson (Emily).

She was over the moon to be “Nana” to six great grandchildren -- Rachel, Colin, Austin, Ellis, Everett, and Esme Anderson.

Gerry lived a long and full life her way, and we will miss her dearly.  The family would like to thank the staff at Douglas Manor for mom’s care.  There will be no service per her request.  Donations in her memory may be made to the Mansfield Senior Center or the Mansfield Public Library.
