Geraldine Hackett

"Somewhere in my heart beneath all my grief and pain, Is a smile I still wear at the sound of your name... Mom, Ma, Gerry." Geraldine Gloria (Mazzola) Hackett, 91, of Windham, CT, passed peacefully on Friday, March 26, 2016 surrounded by love. Gerry was born to Mariano and Ida Mazzola on December 15,1924. She was a lifelong resident of Windham-Willimantic. Gerry married John Murray Hackett in November 1946; they were married for 50 years until John's passing in 1996. Together they raised two children, Michael and Maureen. Gerry enjoyed lively games of Gin with her sisters and friends, vacations to Crescent Beach, and just being with family. Besides her husband John, she was predeceased by her son, Michael, her brothers Joe and George Mazzola, and her sisters Angeline Morin and Sheila Santa Lucia. She leaves behind her devoted daughter, Maureen Overcash, her favorite son in law, Rusty Overcash, their sons, Kristopher, his wife Corry, and Kevin and his girlfriend Kelly. She also leaves her daughter in law, Patricia Hackett and her three sons, John, Cory, and Danny. She also was lucky enough to have several great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her two sisters, Jeanette Bridenstine and Constance Donahue. Included in her loving family, Gerry leaves lifelong friends Carol Hurley and Marion Crawford.
