It was only fitting that one of the most caring and selfless people you will ever meet passed peacefully on a beautiful sun filled day at the age of 88. Georgina Gonzalez was surrounded by loved ones when she took her last breath at 8:29 am on Sunday, August 28, 2022.
Georgia, as she was lovingly known, was married to “Pancho” for more than a half a century and the two were the proud parents to three sons, Norberto, Baltazar and William. The couple moved to Connecticut from Puerto Rico and called Willimantic home for their entire adult lives creating memories at their Birch St. home for more than 45 years.
Georgia, born in Anasco, Puerto Rico, was 1 of 9 children. She was grandmother to Joseph, Baltazar and Andrew Gonzalez. “Googie”, as she was called by the youngest in her family, looked forward to visits from her 8 great grandchildren who always brought a smile to her face.
She was a devoted Jehovah Witness who enjoyed spreading the word and hosting bible studies. You might have answered the door to one of her unannounced but warm visits to talk about her religion.
Nobody could contend with her cooking skills and she took great pleasure in providing delicious meals for her family and friends.
She will be missed dearly and loved forever.
Georgia’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, September 2, 2022 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195), Willimantic. Her graveside service will be on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 10:00am at the New Willimantic Cemetery.
