Georgia Foehrenbach Stygar

Georgia (Foehrenbach) Stygar, 76, of Windham Center, wife of the late Adolph Stygar, died peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, November 28, 2012. She was born February 28, 1936 in Windham, the daughter of the late George and Ruth (Wells) Foehrenbach and was a lifelong resident. She was a Registered Nurse, graduating from the Joseph Lawrence School of Nursing in New London in 1957. She and her husband owned and operated Stygar's Refrigeration and The Tin Lantern. She enjoyed gardening and antiquing and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Georgia was a life member of the Windham Historical Society, the Joseph Lawrence School of Nursing Alumni Association and the Windham Textile and History Museum. She is survived by five children and their spouses, Melinda and Charlie Handfield of Cummington, MA, Kirk and Julie Stygar of Mansfield, Rebecca and Todd Montgomery of Sparta, MI, Amanda and Troy Prevost of Lake Worth, FL and Karl and Christine Stygar of Nutley, NJ, seven grandchildren, Brandon, Leah, Hannah, Olivia, Morgan, Ryland and Payton and a great grandchild Ava. She was predeceased by a brother, Douglas Foehrenbach. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in the Windham Center Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice. The Potter Funeral Home, Willimantic assisted with arrangements.
