George C Taylor

George C. Taylor, 72, of Willimantic, husband of Alice (Jackson) Taylor, died Monday September 10, 2001 in Branford. He was born April 20, 1929 in Willimantic, the son of the late Frederick and Mildred (More) Taylor and was a lifelong resident of Willimantic. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of American Legion Post #19, Amvets and a life member of Gold Star Post #1724 V.F.W. Mr. Taylor served in the Willimantic Fire Department for 32 years, retiring in 1985 as Assistant Chief and a State Fire Marshall. In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, John Taylor of Willimantic, Gary and Debra Taylor of Willimantic, a sister, Ruth Berube of Lebanon, a grandson Jared Taylor, 2 step grandchildren, Shannon and Josh, a niece, Joyce Rogoz of Hampton, and a nephew David Berube of Martha s Vineyard. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Willimantic, 667 Main St. Willimantic. Burial with military honors will follow in the New Willimantic Cemetery. His family will receive friends at the church 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 45 Ash St. East Hartford, CT 06108-3272 or the First Baptist Church of Willimantic. The Potter Funeral Home, Willimantic assisted with arrangements.
