George J. Sokolovsky

George J. Sokolovsky, 90, of Windham, died Wednesday November 17, 2004 at his home. He was born April 3, 1914 in Passaic, NJ, the son of Peter and Catherine (Bunga) Sokolovsky and had lived in Windham for over 50 years. He was a World War II Army veteran of the Pacific Theatre and served on Guadalcanal. Mr. Sokolovsky was an avid sportsman who loved to hunt and fish. In his later years he became a prolific reader and gardener. He is survived by 2 sisters, Eva McAllister of Windham and Anna Midura of Willimantic. He was predeceased by a brother Michael Sokolovsky. Funeral services will be private with burial in the South Chaplin Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 2550 US Highway 1, North Brunswick, NJ, 08902-4301 or to the American Cancer Society, 238 West Town St., Norwich, CT 06360.
