George "Dick" Simmons Jr

George R. (Dick) Simmons Jr., 89, of Windham, died peacefully in his sleep October 24, 2015. He was a Jack of all Trades who built his own home and was able to fix most anything. Dick was a well-loved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Jacqueline M. (Poirier) Simmons, his children George R. Simmons III & wife Mary (Goyette), Paul R. Simmons & wife Rhonda (Korner), Thomas R. Simmons & partner Martha Dwyer, John R. Simmons & wife Kris (Surprenant), Marybeth (Simmons) LaFlamme & husband Scott, Tammy Simmons & partner Daniel Judd, nineteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. He was predeceased by sons Gary R. Simmons & David R. Simmons. The family would like to thank the staff at Douglas Manor for their exceptional care and compassion for George. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice VNA East, 34 Ledgebrook Dr., Mansfield, CT 06250.
