George P. Sikora, 85, passed away Sunday, October 17,2004 at Saint Joseph Living Center in Windham, CT. Born on February 3, 1919 in Stamford, CT, he lived nearly his entire life in the Cove section of the city. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Marie, who is a resident at Saint Joseph Living Center where she is battling Alzheimer's disease. He also leaves his only daughter, Linda Riquier and her husband, Daniel, who he loved like a son. George lived the last year of his life with his daughter and son-in-law at their home in Windham, CT, where he made many new friends and enjoyed many happy times. He was especially fond of his daughter's yellow lab, Larry, who adored his "Granddad" as much as he was loved by him. George is also survived by several nieces and nephews to whom he was very close and loved dearly. He worked as a marina foreman for the City of Stamford Parks Department until his retirement in 1980. He was a proud U.S. Disabled American Veteran, having served in the Army during World War II. There will be no calling hours. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Our Lady Montserrat Church, 1 St. Benedict Circle, in Stamford, CT. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien. In lieu of flowers, memorialcontributions may be made to: Saint Joseph Living Center, 14 Club Road, Windham, CT 06280 or to the Alzheimers Association 96 Oak St., Hartford, CT. 06106.
