George "Marty" Martyniak

George "Marty" Martyniak, 43, of Woodstock, husband of Laurie (Szall) Martyniak, died Friday October 11, 2002 at Hartford Hospital. He was born January 26, 1959 in Willimantic, the son of the late Hnat and Waclawa (Rybak) Martyniak. He grew up in Willimantic and was a graduate of Windham High School, Class of 1977 and became a licensed electrician after graduating from Windham Technical School. He was employed for the past 23 years at UCONN where he also served as an active union steward. Marty was an avid bass fisherman, entering many state tournaments and had many close friends and contacts through various sporting activities. In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 children Kari and Taylor Martyniak at home, a brother, Richard Martyniak of North Windham, a sister, Chrystyna Lessig of Quaker Hill, several nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the procession to his Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, Willimantic. Burial will follow in the New Willimantic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kari and Taylor Martyniak Trust Fund, c/o Fleet Bank.
