George S. Gillette

NORTH WINDHAM - George S. Gillette 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at his home in North Windham. He was born in Hartford, CT on April 19, 1931, the son of the late George P. and Abigail Gillette. He was married on April 8, 1953, to Betty Bither Gillette of Houlton, Maine. A graduate of Wethersfield High School, he then joined the Air Force and served during the Korean War. Besides his wife, he is survived by his three children, George E. Gillette and his wife Yvette of Windham, his daughter Sharon M. Gillette-Greene and her husband Wayne of Colchester and daughter Lisa L. Brown and her partner Joseph Orgioli of Willimantic. He is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchidren. His sister, Maryann Wallace and her husband Robert reside in Avon. Until his retirement, George was the proud owner of Retreaders Incorporated in Willimantic. He loved his Boston Red Sox, UConn Women's basketball and Nascar racing. But his favorite past time was fishing at Mansfield Hollow Dam with his dog Candy, who predeceased him. George was a warm and loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by all who loved him and befriended him. Potter Funeral Home of Willimantic will be assisting the family.
