George Gilbransen Obituary
George C. Gilbransen, of Willimantic, CT died peacefully on April 9, 2022. He was born in Pomfret, CT on March 22, 1937, the son of the late George and Ruth (Chapel) Gilbransen.  He is survived by his son, Christopher Gilbransen and his son John; daughter Karen Gilbransen; niece Pamela Adams and her children Rachel and Tyler. George is also survived by his sister, Lois Gilbransen as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his sister Shirley Gilbransen Shaw, and brothers Fred and Clifford Baker.

George was married to his true love, the late Joan Farrell Gilbransen for close to 60 years. Together they built a life that was focused on family, friends, and time spent with each other. George had a great eye for photography, a dry sense of humor, enjoyed gardening, listening to music, reading, and a good cup of coffee but none of those things could hold a candle to his relationship with Joan and when she passed in December it became clear that he did not want to live without her.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, you consider making a donation to one of the local organizations that George and Joan contributed to like Covenant Soup Kitchen or Windham Area Interfaith Ministry.  George’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic.  Burial will be private.

*THE CALLING HOURS HAVE BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20, 2022*
