George W. Danks

George Danks, of Storrs, CT, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014 at St. Joseph's Living Center with his family by his side. He was born on November 30, 1932 to the late William and Caroline (Prue) Danks. He retired after more than 30 years from Northeast Utilities. He loved singing, dancing, the Boston Red Sox and the UConn Huskies. George was a very kind and generous person and will be dearly missed. He leaves behind his beloved companion of many years Doris Bachand, his children Mark and his wife Tammy Danks, Debra and her husband Linc Levine, Charlie and his wife Bev Canfield, Cherie and her husband Paul Chobot, Debra and her husband Michael Senger, James and his wife Jennifer Canfield, Linda Garrison and Steve and his wife Michelle Canfield. George also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. His family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am Thursday, August 14, 2014 at St. Joseph's Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic, with assembly at church at 10:45, burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Living Center 14 Club Rd. Windham, CT 06280 or St. Mary's Church Repair Fund 80 Maple Ave. Willimantic, CT 06226 in his memory.
