George W. Butterick

George W. Butterick, 92, of Willimantic, died Monday Sept. 27, 2010 at his home. He was born in New York City on Sept. 16, 1918. George resided in Bronx, NY for most of his life until moving to Willimantic in 1986. He was educated in N.Y.C. schools and technical colleges and had been employed as a Senior Engineering Technician by Sperry Electronic Systems (later Unisys) in Lake Success, L.I., N.Y. for forty two years. He had been a member of the Board of Directors of McSweeney Senior Center, a member of Crimestoppers in Willimantic, a member of the Irish Club and active with the Windham Seniors Club and the Jackson St. Senior Club. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church. George was predeceased by his wife Kathleen (Byrnes) Butterick in 2005 and two sons. He is survived by a son Brian of New York, N.Y., three grandsons, George Adam, Jonathan and Aaron, four great grandchildren and a special friend Natalie Caraganis. His family will receive relatives and friends on Friday Oct. 1st between 9:00 and 10:00am at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic, prior to his 10:30am Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. Memorial donations in George's memory are suggested to McSweeney Senior Center, 47 Crescent St. Willimantic, CT. 06226.
