Gary James Zemek

Gary James Zemek, 62, of New London, passed away peacefully March 3, 2017 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, with his longtime girlfriend Vicki Jackson by his side. He was born March 25, 1954, in Stafford Springs, the son of Charles and Betty (Topich) Zemek Jr., of Storrs. Gary graduated from E.O. Smith High School in 1972. He attended Eastern Connecticut State University and graduated from The Massachusetts School of Pharmacy in Boston. He worked for several pharmacies throughout his career. His hobbies included magic, golf, playing guitar and watching wrestling. He was a fan of The Red Sox and the New England Patriots. In addition to his parents, Gary is survived by a brother Roger Zemek of Storrs and a nephew Nicholas Zemek of Willington; an uncle Thomas Zemek and family of Storrs, as well as several cousins in Maine. His family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the ICU at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in New London. Gary?s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday March 9, 2017 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195), Willimantic. Burial will be private.
