Gail Phibbs Obituary
Gail Phibbs, 82, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 10, in the comfort of her own home after a 5-year battle with cancer; under the care of her husband Tom. She was born in Willimantic to Howard and Josephine Eaton on March 24, 1941.
Gail attended EO School in Willimantic. In 1962, she married William Postler and was blessed to be an at-home mother raising four sons. Along with her mother, Josephine, she attended every one of her kid’s school concerts and sporting events, whether home or away.
She married Tom Phibbs in 1982 and began the second phase of her life. She worked various jobs in the Windham and Mansfield area, always something that would help those most in need.
She relished being a grandmother. Much like with her own children, she attended every event for her grandchildren and was always available for baby-sitting, even last minute. Her grandchildren will forever cherish all the fun they had together and tell numerous stories of their time spent with her.
Gail will be remembered by family and friends as having the kindest and most loving heart. She was never judgmental nor had a bad word to say about anyone.
She is survived by her husband Tom, sons Todd and wife Susan, Kemp, Hoyt and wife Connie, and Chad; brother Kermit and wife Jeannie Eaton; grandchildren Joshua, Abagail, Kimberly, Andrew, Victoria, and Chase. She also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Gail was predeceased by brother Conrad and sister-in-law Rayona. The family is grateful for the loving care of her husband, the many doctors and nurses that took special care, and for hospice staff.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gail’s honor can be made to the hospice that took such wonderful care of her at hartfordhealthcareathome.org/donate.
