Frederick W. Wirth

Frederick W. Wirth, age 102, died at Douglas Manor Convalescent Home in Windham on July 19, 2012. Fred was born in Seymour, CT on March 7, 1910, the son of the late Frederick and Magaretha Wirth. He was a graduate of Yale University School of Engineering. Prior to his residence at Douglas Manor he lived for over forty years in Columbia, CT and Jupiter, FL. Fred was a member of the Columbia Congregational Church. He retired in 1972 as Accounting Manager at Hamilton Standard Corporation in Windsor Locks, CT. He was predeceased by his wife Edna and his son Frederick A. Wirth. Surviving Fred are his daughter Susan Hyer and her husband Norman of Columbia and his beloved granddaughter Kinsley Hyer of Ledyard, CT and his three nieces, Sharon Crown of Washington, UT, Laurie Andrews of Orlando, FL and Jerol Shumway of Hamden, CT. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services and burial will be private. Those wishing to make memorial donations in Fred's name are asked to donate to Camp Horizons, P.O.
