Frederick C. Rose, 80, of Coventry, husband of Barbara L. (Topliff) Rose, died Friday, December 14, 2007 at his home. He was born Dec. 23, 1926 in Willimantic the son of Wilton and Hattie (Valette) Rose and was a lifelong Coventry resident. Mr. Rose was a United States Navy veteran serving in both World War II and the Korean War. He also was the owner of an electrical business, Progressive Electric, and was known as a devoted instructor at Windham Regional Technical School from which he retired. He was a member of American Legion Post #52 Coventry, Gold Star Post #1724 VFW Willimantic, Eastern Star Lodge #44 AF&AM Windham and was a life member of First Congregational Church, Coventry. Fred had a great love and felt at home outdoors, whether in the woods hunting with his many black labs, snowmobiling, or fishing on the ocean. In the summers he practically lived on his charter boat, fishing out of Mystic Harbor. In addition to his wife of 61 years, Barbara, he is survived by two daughters, Karen L. Burke and her husband Gerald of MA. and Barbara Leone and her husband Jerry of Coventry, a daughter in law Susan Rose-Harrigan and her husband Gary of Columbia, a brother Allan Rose of Bolton, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Fred was predeceased by a beloved son, Scott Wilton Rose. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Congregational Church of Coventry, 1171 Main St. Coventry on Sunday, December 23, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with The Rev. Dr. Bruce Johnson officiating. Interment will be private in West St. Cemetery, Columbia. There are no calling hours.
