Frederick Arthur Ausburger

Frederick A. Ausburger, 57, of Chaplin, beloved husband of Jacqueline (Garceau) Ausburger for 38 years, died peacefully, Tuesday September 6, 2005, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer at Windham Hospital. He was born July 4, 1948 in Lebanon, CT, son of the late Arthur and Thelma (Bean) Ausburger and had lived in the North Windham and Chaplin area all his life. Fred was employed at Seymour Sand and Gravel before retiring. He was known as an excellent carpenter and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially enjoyed his perennial gardens. He was a member of the Willimantic Moose Lodge #1400 for 36 years. Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Heidi Meketsy of Chaplin, a son, Eric Ausburger of North Windham, and his very loved grandson, Jacob Meketsy of Chaplin. He is also survived by three brothers and their wives, Henry and Deborah Ausburger of Scotland, Ronald and Heidi Ausburger of Chaplin, Alan Ausburger of West Virginia, three sisters and a brother-in-law, Carolyn and Theodore Weyand of New Orleans, Louisiana, June Broadbent of Virginia, and Jane Byrd of Willimantic, four sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law, Annette Grover, Terry and Tom Flynn, Paul and Deborah Garceau, Jeanne and Conrad Labbe, a special nephew, Joshua Ausburger, several other nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on September 16, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on September 17th at 12:00 noon. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chaplin Fire Department, Chaplin, CT 06235.
