Dr. Frank Ferrigno Sr., 95, passed away peacefully at home on September 9th, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 27th 1917 to the late Antonio and Maria (Silvestri) Ferrigno. A native of Willimantic, Frank earned his Bachelors from UConn and graduated valedictorian from University of Pennsylvania veterinary school in 1947. He served in the Army and then established his own practice as a veterinarian known as the Route 6 Animal Hospital. He also specialized in large animal farm calls no matter the time of night or day. He enjoyed gardening and carpentry, as well as spending winters in Florida with his fruit trees. He is predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth Hallock who owned and operated Hallock's Ice Cream on Jackson Street, and also by his only child Frank Ferrigno Jr. 11 years ago. He is survived by his daughter-in-law Debbie and only grandchildren, Andrea and Michael Ferrigno. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. One of seven children, Frank is survived by only one sibling, Russell Ferrigno of Mashpee, Cape Cod. His family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, September 11th between 6:00 and 8:00pm at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. His Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, September 12th at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church in Willimantic. Burial will follow in Storrs Cemetery on North Eagleville Rd.
