Francis A. W. Keegan

Francis A. W. Keegan, 77, of Columbia, passed from this life on January 20, 2005, at home, after a long illness. He was the son of the late Frances W. Keegan and Dr. Thomas Keegan. He is survived by his wife, Edith and two daughters, Colleen Eckert and her husband Ted Eckert of East Lyme, Karen Popolizio and her husband Ronald Popolizio of Unionville and one beloved granddaughter, Sarah Popolizio who is six years old. He is also survived by a brother, Thomas Keegan and his wife Norma Keegan of Columbia, a sister, Diana Perkins of Windham, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Keegan. He attended local schools and served in the U. S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Franklin Delano Roosevelt from 1945 to 1946, receiving an honorable discharge. He worked for a major grocery chain, FINAST/EDWARDS for 43 years as Loss Prevention Manager until his retirement in 1992. He was a life member of Elks Lodge #1311 in Willimantic. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with the reverend Alice O'Donovan officiating.
