Francine Henning Obituary
Francine (née Corneau), of Lebanon, CT, died peacefully surrounded by family at Hartford Hospital on December 7, 2023 after a long battle with lung cancer. She was born in 1947 to Rene and Carmen Corneau (née Ste. Roch) in St-Hyacinthe, Quebec, Canada, and her family immigrated to CT in 1950. She was fluent in French. Francine attended Norwich Free Academy and later worked at the Norwich Bulletin as a graphic artist. She met her husband in 1975, and the pair were married in 1977. Francine gave birth to their son, Jason, in 1980. Francine is survived by her husband of 46 years, Reinhold Henning, her beloved son, Jason Henning, and his wife Robin (of Clayton, NC), her brother, John Corneau, his wife Colleen and their daughter Elizabeth (of Houston, TX), her sister, Andreé Morse (née Corneau), her husband Bill, and their sons Reuben and Billie (of Katy, TX) and her other sister, Michelle Smith (née Corneau) and her sons Todd and Kevin (of Katy, TX). After the birth of her son, Francine left the workforce to support her family, and she loved her life as a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking holiday dinners, listening to French singers like Édith Piaf, watching movies, and cuddling with her dog, who was always at her side. Once her son was a teenager, Francine worked various retail jobs to fill the time. She was an animal lover and enjoyed watching and feeding the deer in her backyard. She always had a dog as a companion and her latest dog, a Bichon Frisé named Joey, was near and dear to her heart. She will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Windham Hospital Cancer Center, Windham Hospital, and Hartford Hospital for their professional and compassionate care during Francine’s treatment.
Francine’s life will be celebrated with a private family ceremony at Potter Funeral Home in Willimantic, CT. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests donations be made in her memory to the Connecticut Humane Society, or any charity of your choosing.
