Frances R. Freeman, 83, of Columbia, died Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the Windham Hospital. She was born August 31, 1925 to Rose McManus and George D. Freeman. She leaves two sisters, Gladys M. Freeman and Elizabeth A. Freeman of Columbia. Her memberships, accomplishments and history in teaching (which she loved), traveling and golf are well known by her sisters, colleagues, neighbors and her many friends. Everyone else won't be interested. Frances especially loved the Vermont log cabin with its very special memories. She thoroughly enjoyed her numerous trips throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico with special interesting individuals, members of the SNET Telephone Pioneers. She had many laughs and fun with everyone involved in her golfing experiences. She was a very good role model and mentor to many young people. Each of the classes she taught were very special to her. She taught from 1949 to 1980 at several schools in Cheshire. There are very, very special persons she held very close to her heart. She will be sadly missed by Gilbert Geiger and family of Vermont, Eric Geiger and family of Massachusetts, Gay Hughes and family of MA, Gary and Deborah Reynolds of Columbia and their daughters, Amy, Danielle and Kimberly. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
