Florence A. (Quimby) Volle, 98, of Willimantic, died Thursday Aug. 29, 2002 at St. Joseph Living Center, Windham. She was born Aug. 17, 1904 in Weston, the daughter of Herbert and Edith (Meeker) Quimby. She had been employed as a nurse?s aide at the Windham Hospital Nursery for 39 years until her retirement. Florence was a member of the First Baptist Church of Willimantic and had taught Sunday School there. She was active at the McSweeney Senior Center and had knitted many hats over the years for the Hats For Tots Program. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Harry, and is survived by a son and daughter in law Edward R. and Jeannette Volle of Thompson, 2 daughters and a son in law; Carol Wilson of Coventry and Diana and William Young of Florida, 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30pm followed by her funeral service at 1:30 at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the New Willimantic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorial donations to the First Baptist Church of Willimantic, 667 Main St. Willimantic, Ct. 06226.
