Florence L. (Eldredge) Burnham, 86, of Mansfield, wife of the late Arnold Burnham, died Monday morning April 7, 2008 at home with her family at her side. She was born Jan. 21, 1922 in Willington the daughter of Clinton and Daisy (Buck) Eldredge. Florence worked at the family business, Barrows & Burnham Store and at the Village Treat Restaurant in Mansfield Center for many years. She and Arnold ran Acorn Hill Antiques and were well known antique dealers at local shows always accompanied by their grandchildren. Florence was also an avid gardener and enthusiastic bird watcher. She is survived by a daughter and son in law, Deborah and Wayne Adams of Lebanon; a son and daughter in law Barry and Dru Burnham of Mansfield; three grandchildren, Mark Lucas and his wife Andra of Woodstock, Todd Lucas and his wife Beverly of Rocky Hill and Heather Lucas of Watertown, MA.; a great granddaughter Sarah Lucas of Woodstock and sisters Dorothy Bottari of Willimantic and Ethel Hawkins of Mansfield. She was predeceased by sister Caroline Bentley and brothers David, Clifford and Earl Eldredge. The family is very grateful to those who took care of her with such compassion, especially Sherry, Darlene and the staff of Hospice of Eastern CT. Her family will receive friends at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Wednesday between 6:00 and 8:00pm. The funeral service and burial in Mansfield Center Cemetery will be private.
