Fernand Richard Obituary
Fernand Richard, 88, beloved husband of Prescille since 1960 of Willimantic passed away peacefully at home on Saturday August 24th, 2024. He was born on January 5th, 1936, in La Patrie, Quebec, Canada to the late Joseph and Albertine (Blais) Richard.

Fernand and Prescille moved to Willimantic in 1966 and have resided there since. Fernand worked as a lumberjack in Quebec and a carpenter for Carabetta Construction in Connecticut. He was a lifelong member of the Franco American Civic and Social Club and fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather devoted to his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing poker, cribbage, and watching the Boston Red Sox and UConn Huskies basketball. Fernand was a long-time staple on the sidelines of Frenchy Foundation Willi-MAC softball games and was exceptionally proud of his six grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Prescille of 64 years, Fernand will be missed dearly by his children Jacinthe Jaskulski & husband Thomas, Francois Richard, Mark Richard, Michel Richard & wife Catherine; grandchildren Stephanie Deason & husband William, Ethan Jaskulski & wife Kathryn, Christopher Richard, Alex Richard, Andrea Jaskulski & fiancé Matthew Farrell, and Samantha Richard. He is survived by his siblings Renee Richard & wife Mireille, Monique Champigny & husband Aurel, Camille Richard & wife Ginette, Benoit Richard, and sister-in-law Marie Richard. He is predeceased by siblings Albert Richard, Ellen Richard, and Lucian Richard.

Calling hours will be Thursday August 29th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street, Willimantic, CT. Funeral mass will be held on Friday August 30th at 10:00 at St. Mary’s Church, 46 Valley Street, Willimantic, CT with a burial service to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery on Club Road in Windham. Immediately following there will be a reception for family and friends at the Franco American Civic and Social Club.
