Fern V. Guay, 83, of Scotland, wife of the late George A. Guay, died Monday, December 3, 2012 in Windham. She was born February 1, 1929 in Windham, the daughter of Earl H. Syphers and Myrtle I. (Ellis) Syphers and was a lifelong resident of Scotland. Prior to her retirement, Fern worked at the library at Parish Hill high School and in the English and Home Economics Departments at the University of Connecticut. She is survived by a son, Randall G. Guay and his wife Katherine Howska of Meridian, ID and a daughter, Janet L. (Guay) Ford and her husband Douglas J. Ford of New Britain, four grandchildren, Jaime Franco and his wife Laurin of Plainville, Christopher Franco of Bristol, Nick Franco of Meriden and Heather (Guay) Lees and her husband Gavin of Seattle, WA, four nieces, Cynthia, Betty Jean, Holly and Cheryl. She was predeceased by her husband, George A. Guay and her sister, Joan (Syphers) Estabrooks. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, December 7, 2012 at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM with funeral services beginning at 1:00 PM.
